Bengaluru-based premium dog care startup Scooby’s Club has raised $250,000 in a pre-seed funding round led by TDV Partners, giving the company fresh capital to expand a neighbourhood-based model built around daycare, boarding and canine wellbeing.

Founded in 2025 by Animeha Singh and Ankit Gupta, the startup is positioning itself in a part of India’s pet economy that is becoming increasingly important as pet parents look beyond food, grooming and veterinary care toward structured everyday services.

The funding will be used to open two additional properties in Bengaluru over the next six to 12 months, while also supporting the recruitment and training of canine coaches.

That Bengaluru expansion is only the first stage of a much larger plan. Scooby’s Club ultimately wants to create a 100-property network across major Indian cities, betting that professionally managed dog daycare can become a regular neighbourhood service rather than something families use only when travelling.

Why Scooby’s Club is betting on neighbourhood dog care

The company’s model is designed around a common problem for urban pet parents: where does a dog stay when its family is at work, travelling, running errands or otherwise unable to provide supervision?

India already has boarding kennels, independent groomers, home boarders and pet sitters, but the market remains fragmented and service standards can vary widely.

Scooby’s Club is trying to address that gap through dedicated facilities located closer to residential neighbourhoods.

Its hubs combine daycare, overnight boarding and spa services in indoor, climate-controlled spaces. The company follows a free-roam model in which dogs can move through supervised play and rest areas rather than being routinely confined to cages.

Its official website also lists puppy preschool and behaviour training, giving the business more ways to build recurring relationships with pet parents beyond occasional boarding.

Behaviour science sits at the centre of the model

Scooby’s Club is attempting to differentiate itself through a structured approach to canine behaviour and socialisation.

Every new dog is required to undergo a temperament assessment, along with vaccination and tick-and-flea checks before entering the facility. Dogs are grouped with factors such as size and temperament in mind to support safer interaction.

The company says its canine coaches are trained in dog body language, handling and playgroup management. Its facilities also incorporate sound, scent and colour elements intended to provide mental enrichment.

Founder Animeha Singh has studied canine behaviour, dog psychology and behavioural science, giving the startup a specialist angle alongside its operational ambitions. Singh and Gupta are both XLRI Jamshedpur alumni with previous experience working in the startup ecosystem.

As the company grows, maintaining those standards across multiple properties could become one of its biggest tests.

Transparency and personalised care target pet-parent trust

Trust is a critical issue in the boarding and daycare business because owners often have limited visibility after leaving their dogs at a facility.

Scooby’s Club addresses that concern with 24×7 CCTV access to play and sleep zones during a dog’s stay.

The company also offers personalised attention and allergen-conscious food options, including different protein choices and hypoallergenic alternatives.

These features reflect a larger shift in the pet industry. As more households treat dogs as family members, owners are paying closer attention to safety, nutrition, supervision and emotional wellbeing when choosing third-party care.

That creates an opportunity for organised operators able to make their care standards both consistent and visible.

The funding will test whether quality can scale

The two planned Bengaluru centres will be an important operational test for Scooby’s Club.

Dog daycare is not a purely digital business. Each property requires suitable infrastructure, trained staff, hygiene systems, behaviour management and reliable supervision.

The company’s decision to put part of the fresh capital into hiring and training canine coaches is therefore significant. As Scooby’s Club expands, people and operating processes may prove just as important as real estate.

A neighbourhood strategy also makes site selection crucial. New centres need to be convenient for pet-owning households while still offering enough space to manage dogs safely.

If the company can reproduce its experience successfully across Bengaluru, expansion into other major cities becomes a more realistic next step.

India’s pet services economy is moving beyond the basics

The fundraise arrives as India’s wider pet economy continues to expand beyond pet food and basic grooming.

Scooby’s Club cites India’s pet care market at around ₹6,000 crore, growing at roughly 20% annually. Market estimates vary considerably because different studies include different combinations of food, healthcare, accessories, grooming, boarding and other services.

Independent industry research nevertheless points in the same broad direction: rising pet ownership is supporting increased spending on premium products and professional care, while grooming, boarding, daycare and training are becoming more organised.

Urban lifestyles strengthen the use case. Office routines, travel and social commitments can create frequent demand for reliable dog care, turning daycare and boarding into potentially recurring services rather than occasional purchases.

For investors, that creates an opportunity to back businesses trying to organise categories that have traditionally been served by local or informal operators.

TDV Partners backs an everyday pet-parent problem

TDV Partners founder and general partner Ujwal Sutaria has linked the investment to changing household lifestyles and the growing willingness of consumers to spend on their pets’ health, happiness and daily care.

The investment thesis is notable because Scooby’s Club is not simply selling another pet product. It is attempting to build trust and consistency around a recurring service.

For India’s wider pet startup ecosystem, that also reflects growing investor interest in areas beyond food, accessories and e-commerce.

Professional daycare, boarding, training, pet travel, insurance and specialised wellness services are increasingly becoming part of the commercial pet-care landscape.

From Bengaluru expansion to a 100-property ambition

For now, Scooby’s Club’s immediate focus remains Bengaluru.

The next two properties will show whether its behaviour-led, free-roam model can work across multiple neighbourhoods without diluting safety or service quality.

Beyond that lies the far more ambitious goal of 100 locations across major Indian cities.

Reaching that scale would require additional capital, operational standardisation, reliable site selection and a much larger pool of trained canine-care professionals. But this pre-seed round gives the company a chance to prove its model one neighbourhood at a time.

As India’s pet care market matures, growth may increasingly come not only from what families buy for their dogs, but also from the professional services they rely on every week.

Scooby’s Club is betting that dependable, behaviour-led dog care can become one of those recurring urban services.
