Europe’s veterinary and pet supplies sector has another growth story to point to this year. Pet Service Holding NV, listed on Euronext Growth Paris under the ticker ALPET, has reported half-year revenue of €7.4 million for the period ending June 30, 2026 — an 8 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
The Netherlands-based company, which operates across veterinary products, animal healthcare, and premium pet supplies, credited the growth to an optimized product mix weighted toward over-the-counter medicines and pet accessories, which helped offset the impact of a revised regulatory framework governing prescription veterinary medicines.
A Deliberate Trade-Off in the Wholesale Business
Not every part of Pet Service Holding’s business grew during the first half of the year, and that was by design. Revenue from its veterinary medicines wholesale segment remained broadly stable, a result of a strategic decision to phase out sales to veterinary purchasing groups and practice combinations that didn’t meet the company’s minimum profitability requirements.
That choice limited short-term growth within the wholesale segment, but management says it improved the overall quality of the group’s revenue and strengthened its gross margin profile — a trade-off aimed at sustainable, profitable sales rather than chasing volume for its own sake.
New Growth Engines Starting to Contribute
Much of the momentum behind this half-year performance is coming from newer parts of the business. For the first time, the group’s revenue included a contribution from Petlux, a producer and distributor of innovative luxury pet products acquired in the third quarter of 2025. Production at Petlux’s manufacturing facility in China is now fully operational, with initial deliveries to international customers already underway. Management expects Petlux’s contribution to revenue and profitability to keep building through the second half of 2026.
The company’s acquisition of RHR Concepts, a leading supplier of premium cat furniture and scratching posts, also progressed through the half year. Integration is said to be tracking according to plan, with a meaningful financial contribution expected to begin showing up from the second half of the year onward.
Budget Pets Opens Its First Store
Perhaps the most visible development of the period was on the retail side. Pet Service Holding opened its first Budget Pets store in Bussum, near Amsterdam, marking the launch of what the company is positioning as the Netherlands’ first nationwide pet discount retail concept, offering quality pet products at consistently competitive prices.
Following a successful opening, preparations for a second location are already underway, as the company works toward its stated ambition of growing Budget Pets into a chain of at least fifteen stores in the coming years — a significant retail expansion for a company that has traditionally focused on wholesale and specialty distribution.
Confirming the Full-Year Outlook
Taken together, these developments have given Pet Service Holding enough confidence to reaffirm its full-year revenue guidance of approximately €17-18 million for 2026, alongside an expected improvement in operating margins.
“We are proud to see our agile strategy translating into solid commercial performance, supported by continuous innovation across both our product portfolio and our distribution channels,” said Ron van Veldhoven, CEO of Pet Service Holding. “With our comprehensive pet-care offering, from essential to premium products, available online and in store, we are strengthening our platform built to deliver sustained growth while meeting our clients’ needs.”
What This Means for Europe’s Pet Care Market
Pet Service Holding’s H1 results offer a useful snapshot of where growth is actually coming from in Europe’s pet care sector right now: not from chasing every wholesale account, but from smarter product mixes, targeted acquisitions in premium categories, and new retail formats built around value and accessibility. For a sector facing regulatory shifts on the veterinary medicines side, that kind of diversified strategy is likely to become increasingly common among mid-sized players looking to keep growth on track.
